Lenten Series

We will be having our regular midweek Lenten services this year. Last year, our midweek Lenten services were cut short by the beginning of the Covid-19 outbreak. This year, we look forward to having a full series with a full rotation of area pastors. These services take place on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 starting on February 17. This year, the theme for the series is “Hands of the Passion” and we will be looking at the actions of people who played an important roll in the events of Jesus’ passion. We will only be posting an online version of the first service in the series. That service is currently available on our Sermon page of this web site. Below is the schedule for the series.

We will be having a keyboardist and hymn singing for only the first Lenten service. After that, we will be having services that are more devotional in nature. These service will have a spoken liturgy, a reading from the Passion history of St. Mark’s Gospel, a sermon from one of the pastors in the area, and prayers. Since there will be no singing, we feel that these services are safer for our members since singing encourages the spread of germs more than simply speaking. If you have not come to an in-person worship service up to this time, these services might be a way to reintroduce yourself to worshipping with your fellow members of St. Paul.

Private Communion

We will be continuing our practice of offering private communion throughout the season of Lent (and probably beyond that until the vaccine is more widely administered). This takes place on the Mondays following communion Sundays from 6:30 to 7:00 PM. Communion Sundays are the first and third Sundays of each month. We conduct these private communions with the safety of our members in mind. We admit individuals or family groups one at a time into our entryway. We sanitize between each table of communion. Pastor Lillo wears a mask throughout this time. This is ideal for those who still do not feel comfortable attending an in-person worship service at this time.
