Fiddler on the Roof at FVL
“If I Were a Rich Man” “Sunrise, Sunset” “To Life” “Wonder of Wonders” This is just a sampling of the great songs you will hear when you attend the production of Fiddler on the Roof which the students of FVL will present in March.
Set in the little village of Anatevka, Fiddler on the Roof centers on Tevye, a poor milkman, and his five daughters. With the help of a colorful and tight-knit Jewish community, Tevye tries to protect his daughters and instill them with traditional values in the face of changing social mores and the growing anti-Semitism of Czarist Russia. Rich in historical and ethnic detail, Fiddler’s universal theme of tradition cuts across barriers of race, class, nationality, and religion.

Some Special Musical Presentations
The choirs of FVL will be presenting a concert for the Lenten and Easter seasons on Sunday, March 29 at 6:00 PM. All are invited to come for this inspirational concert.
The FVL band will be taking part in the WELS Regional band fest at Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School in Jackson, WI. The bands will be taking part in a festival concert on Sunday, March 15 at 2:00 PM. You are more than welcome to attend if you don’t mind a little traveling. (To get there, go straight down Interstate 41 and take the Jackson exit about a half hour north of Milwaukee; turn left, go through Jackson and go south at the 1st roundabout.)
This has nothing to do with church… If you want a real treat for your senses, The Opera Department of Lawrence University is presenting Mozart’s masterpiece The Marriage of Figaro in English translation. If you’ve always wanted to experience opera, I can’t think of a better introduction. Performances run from March 5-7 at 7:30 PM and March 8 at 3:00 PM. Tickets can be purchased at the Lawrence box office for $15 (what a bargain!)
Other Things to Keep in Mind
The schedule for our midweek Lenten services is included in this newsletter. Please remember that during the season of Lent, we do not have any Monday evening services.
Please remember that Daylight Savings Time begins in the early morning hours of Sunday, March 8. That means that you should set your clocks ahead one hour before you go to bed on that Saturday. If you don’t, you’ll find yourself arriving at church just as everyone else is leaving.
Remember that we have a Bible class on every Sunday morning after our worship services. This month, we will start looking at some of the shorter books in the New Testament. We will be examining Philemon and the three epistles by John. All are invited to come.
Our Women’s group meets the second Wednesday of every month. We have been having some very good meetings and discussions about various topics.
Every Friday, the students of Immanuel in Greenville have a special service at 8:15 AM. All are welcome to attend.
In the coming month, we celebrate Holy Week. Here is the schedule for that week:
