November News Is Good News

It will be time to set the clocks back to Standard Time before you go to bed on Saturday, November 2. If you forget, you will be one hour early for church… and no one wants that.

On Sunday, November 3, there will be an Area Reformation Service at Fox Valley Lutheran High School at 4:00 PM. Guest preacher is Professor Tom Kock, Academic Dean at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon. Presiding Pastor is Pastor Kenneth Frey of St. Paul, Appleton.  All are encouraged to remember how God preserved his Word through the work of the reformers.

The students who make up the FVL  Band will present a special Veterans Day Concert.  This concert will be presented twice on Thursday, November 7.  The first concert is at 10:00 AM at St. Paul’s in Appleton.  The second is at 1:30 PM at Bethlehem in Hortonville.

On Monday, November 11, the students of Fox Valley Lutheran High School will host the veterans of our area for a Veterans Day Breakfast and Service.  This will take place from 8:00 to 10:30 AM in the FVL commons area.

You can find out a little bit about the international students who are currently attending FVL on Saturday, November 16 from 4:30 to 6:30 PM at their Culture and Cuisine event. You will be able to sample foods from about a dozen countries around the world in the FVL commons. After you’re done doing that, you can waddle over to the FVL  auditorium for a special presentation.

In this presentation, you will hear several international students talking about their homelands and their experiences attending school at FVL.

There is also a special display of honor given to the host families who are taking care of these special students throughout the year. It might even inspire you to get involved in this program in the future.

We will be having our Thanksgiving Song Service on Wednesday, November 27 at 6:30 PM. This year, our theme is “Give Thanks Through Our Adversities.” We’ll look at how even the things that the world sees as tragedies contain blessings from God for us. Come and give thanks to the Lord in this special service.

The students of FVL will be presenting their Fall Band Concert on Sunday, November 17 at 2:00 PM. This concert will also features music from the FVL Schools Band Program (middle school band). It is amazing to see these young musicians take their first steps toward playing before an audience.
