September Heats Up!
In September, the weather starts to cool down, but activities at church start to heat up. Here is a reminder of some of the things happening in this month of September.
Pastor Lillo and family will be out of town on Sunday, September 1 attending the wedding of his son Zachary’s wedding. On that day, Pastor Dave Wenzel from FVL will be our guest preacher. This will be our FVL Sunday for the fall and we’ll be hearing about the ministry of the high school. Please note that we will not be having our Brewster Village service or our midweek service on Labor Day.
School has started and school activities are in full swing. Fox Valley Lutheran High School has its next General Board meeting on Tuesday, September 24 at 7 PM.
How much “screen time” is healthy for your child . . . or for you? Screenagers is the topic of our FVL Schools Community Parents Night on Weds., 9/25 at 6:30 PM. This video-based presentation will help parents wrestle with this tough question and consider strategies to better balance your child’s “screen time.” FVL will be hosting the event on Wednesday, September 25 at 6:30 PM — free child care is available for children ages 4 & up. More info at available at fvlschools.org.
We are starting up our Bible class on Sunday, September 15. These classes take place after the worship service on Sunday mornings (except for fellowship Sundays). We will look at several short books of the Bible starting with a look at the book of Ruth.
Pastor Lillo will be attending a pastors’ conference at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Freedom on Tuesday, September 24. The topic will be a look at discipleship within the family. He will provide you with a copy of the paper if you want.
Please note that we are changing the time of our monthly Ladies Aid meeting. We will be meeting on the second Wednesday (not Thursday) of each month at 1:30 PM. If you would like to become involved with Ladies Aid, please call Marian Voight at 757-5438.
Please note that we have attached the financial statements for the first half of the church year to this newsletter. Please take a little time to review them.
Church Work Days
We have scheduled a couple of days to do some work around the church. We’ll be trying to finish the project of putting up the new siding for the church and doing some landscaping in the front of church. There might be a couple of other chores to do.
If you would like to help, come to St. Paul’s on either of the first two Saturdays of the month (September 7 and 14). We’ll be starting up around 9:00 AM on both of the work days.
